In the refined Hellenic World first and in the powerfull Roman Empire later, the hot bath was considered a way to relax, enjoy oneself and meet other people. Turkish and Arabian inherited and kept the Roman system of healing the bath with hot air shower, but they rarely used a complete bath or did some exercises as the Roman used to, instead they began enjoying massages. The tradition of Roman public bath was kept thanks to the Arabian during the Middle Age; the Hammam was used especially for the religious purposes, rituals, purifyng ablutions etc..
